Bangalore:State Minister for Law and Animal Husbandry T.B.Jayachandra has informed that the state government was contemplating to enforce a comprehensive act which bans certain superstitious practices like black magic, human sacrifice and warding off of evil spirits which aim at nothing but exploiting the common man.
Speaking to reporters here, he said the media was glorifying certain superstitious practices and added any such At would ensure strict action against those patronizing superstitious practices.
He said the government plans to table the Bill in the next assembly session.
Superstition ought to have been warded off in the modern times, but it is a tragedy that people are becoming superstitious. Illiteracy and ignorance of people is taken advantage of by some forces, the government wants to prevent this, he said.
He said the Act would be brought about with assistance from experts from National Law College.
