State government to launch ‘Bike Ambulances’ in Nov

Bangalore: The State government has initiated ‘Bike Ambulances’ to serve the patients and accident victims in a better and effective way.

The facility which will be launched in November 2014 will be much beneficial to victims of  accidents in crammed areas and during heavy traffic. 

Addressing the press on Friday August 1, State Health and Family Welfare Minister, U T Khadar  explained the features of Bike Ambulance. He said  the motor bikes will be equipped with first aid kits, oxygen cylinders, and a driver who is trained in caring for the injured persons.

He said that in the first phase, these ambulances will serve Bangaloreans and later on the service will be extended to other city corporation limits in phases, like Mysore, Mangalore,  and other places.

He explained that these bike ambulances will cost about Rs two lacs a piece, and the Department has decided to acquire 100 such vehicles. Out of them, 20 motor bikes will exclusively serve Bangalore, he added.
