
Bengaluru: Food and Civil Service Minister U T Khader has complained that the Karnataka State Food Corporation (KSFC) is yet to receive Rs.954 crore from the Central government, which is due over the last four years.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, the minister said that a letter to the Chief Minister also did not help and hence, it has been decided to meet the Union Minister once again to press for release of the amount. “Without financial backup, it is tough for the KSFC to work. The situation is so pathetic that the KSFC borrows loans to keep the show going on,” he said.
Meanwhile, he explained that all the officials and staff will be called back from all 120 Fair Price Shops under Karnataka State Food Corporation, which come under Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), and used for other activities of the corporation.”
“For the ration shops, applications will be invited from Farmers’ Agriculture Product Society, Women’s Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Lambani Cooperative Society, Fishermen’s Society, Weavers Association, individually from physically handicapped and third gender,” he said.
