Bengaluru: Errors in the totalling are one of the major problems faced by the SSLC students in the final examination. Every year thousands of students are forced to apply for re-totalling due to the errors committed by the evaluators and the data entry operators. But starting from this year, the whole exercise of entering the marks secured by the students on the OMR sheet will be discontinued and instead, the evaluators will now enter the marks directly to the server from the evaluation centre.

According to the sources in the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB), as per the digitalisation plans of the SSLC answer sheet evaluation, after the evaluation of each paper, the evaluators need to enter the marks to the computer instead of mentioning on the OMR sheets. “This will put an end to all the totalling related errors,” informed an officer from the KSEEB.

“On a pilot basis, we tested this new mechanism at the time of SSLC supplementary examination valuation in June/ July 2018. At the time of the pilot project, we were able to eliminate all errors. So we decided to continue with this system in 2019 SSLC examination valuation too,” he said.

According to the sources, the board is also planning to allow the students to download the hall tickets instead of collecting them manually from the school teachers. “All these years the hall tickets were collected from the BEO office. But we wanted to allow the students to download it. It will end all kinds of problems,” he explained.
