Karnataka Milk Federation proposes hike in milk price

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has proposed a hike of Rs. 2 per litre of milk. The federation has sent a proposal in this regard to the state government.

According to the sources in the state cooperative department, the federation sought permission to increase the milk rate keeping in mind increase in the milk production costs. But till now the state government hasn’t replied to the proposal.

If sources in the department are to be believed, then the state government is likely to allow the federation to increase the milk rate by Rs.1 per litre. “A decision in this regard is expected to be taken by the state government after the November 3 by-election. The government is likely to place the proposal in the cabinet meeting before finalising the decision” informed an officer.

“With general election 2019 around the corner, the state government wants to take a quick decision on the KSRTC and the BMTC ticket fare revision too. All decisions will be taken at the earliest,” he added.
