Bengaluru: Known for initiating progressive movements in India, Maharashtra Andhshraddha Nirmulan Samiti (MANS) on Monday, demanded to speed up the ongoing investigation of Professor MM Kalaburagi murder case and also demanded the Karnataka state government to introduce Anti-Superstition bill as early as possible in the state.
Addressing a press meet on Monday, Avinash Patil, Executive President of the Samiti said that his organisation will launch a nationwide campaign to speed up the investigations into the rationalists Dr Narendra Dabolkar, Govind Pansare and Professor MM Kalaburagi’s murder cases.
“The MANS is soon launching a national campaign -‘Against violence and towards humanity.’ The campaign will initially start from Delhi and later on will be extended to other places including Bengaluru,” he said.
The campaign in Bengaluru is planned to start from August 30, the day Prof M M Kalaburagi was killed.
“It’s been three years since Dabolkar was killed. No concrete efforts have been made to crack the case except arresting a suspect,” he claimed adding that one suspect identified as Virendra Tawde was arrested by CBI recently. In Pansare case also, the Special Investigation Team of Maharashtra arrested Samir Gayakwad.
He pointed that the Karnataka CID police failed to arrest even a single person in the Kalaburagi murder case. The police should accelerate their probe in all these three cases. The investigating agencies suspect on Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Jagaran Samiti in all three cases and the union government must ban these organisations as the members of these organisations are also suspected to be behind Malegaon blast case and also murder cases of rationalists in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The investigating agencies of these three cases must arrest suspects Jai Prakash Hegade, Rudra Patil, Sarang Akolkar and Praveen Limkar as soon as possible.
He also added that MANS members will meet Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday as they already got appointment for it.
The meeting is meant to discuss the issue and present memo regarding the slow pace of investigation into Kalaburagi murder case and also request him to introduce Anti-Suprtstition bill in the state soon and tribute it to Kalaburagi,” he added.
However, when the reporter of newskarnataka.com brought the issue of RTI Activist Vinayak Baliga murder case in Mangaluru to his notice, Patil said that he was unaware of the incident.
