
Bengaluru: Speaker of the state assembly KR Ramesh Kumar summoned four Congress rebel MLAs for the hearing based on a complaint lodged by Congress Legislature Party leader (CLP) Siddaramaiah under the provisions of the anti-defection law.
CLP leader and former CM Siddaramaiah lodged a complaint against four rebel MLAs including Umesh Jadhav, Ramesh Jarakiholi, B Nagendra and Mahesh Kumatahalli for violating his whip. He requested the Speaker to disqualify these four MLAs and bar them from contesting in any election for the next five years. The inquiry has been scheduled at 3 PM on March 12 at the Speaker’s chamber.
Umesh Jadhav resigned from the party on Monday and joined the BJP. He will be the party candidate from Kalaburugi Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
According to the sources, all the MLAs are expected to use the medical certificates for failing to obey the whip.
Speaking to the reporters, Ramesh Kumar informed that he will follow the rule book on the fate of these four MLAs.
