Bangalore : AICC President Sonia Gandhi who has come down heavily on the BJP leaders for accusing the Centre of following a step motherly attitude towards the State, has asked the BJP leaders to give account of the funds released by the Centre.
Addressing an election ally of the Congress at Palace Grounds here, the Congress President said the UPA government had released as much as Rs 88000 crores to the state in the past five year period for various welfare activities and charged the BJP government of misusing the same.
The Congress party will never tolerate corruption, she said adding it was with this objective that it introduced the RTI. She further alleged that the BJP leaders who give lengthy speeches against corruption, were unnecessarily delaying the passing of the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Stating that roads in the state have turned worse, Sonia added the condition would not have aggravated had the funds sanctioned under Rozgar Yojana been effectively utilized.
She urged the electorate to support the Congress for a stable government and better administration.
