Bengaluru: Garden City Bengaluru will be soon included in the smart city project according to an announcement made by Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Friday.

Bengaluru had not been included in the initial list as the State government had failed to adhere to the required parameters while recommending it, said Naidu at BJP’s public function.

“The state government failed to recommend Bengaluru. But people here should not lose out for no fault of theirs. We have decided to include Bengaluru in the Smart City list,” Naidu said.

Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Davangere, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi and Tumakuru are the six cities under the Smart City project.

Naidu also informed that the other cities under the Smart City programme will have round-the-clock supply of water and electricity, improved public transportation system, modern amenities, e-governance, clean and green environment, among others.
