Bengaluru: Six schools belonging to National Public school (NPS) trust based in Bengaluru and Mysuru lost their CBSE affiliation for forging RTE documents to avail benefits under RTE quota. Five of the schools are in Bengaluru and one in Mysuru.

According to RTE guidelines, all private schools should allot stipulated number of free seats. Only schools run by minority institutions are exempt from these regulations. The documents and the affidavit given by NPS to avail exemption under minority quota itself were found to be fake. Based on this information given by the National commission of minorities, the CBSE board withdrew affiliation granted to six schools.

As the result, the said schools cannot conduct 9–11 grade exams from academic year 2017-18. Students studying presently in 10-12 grades can write exams during 2017-18 but will have to pass an additional eligibility test.
