Bengaluru: After the ‘Hublot’ dented the image of CM Siddaramaiah and the Congress party in the state, if sources are to be believed, the party is now contemplating on talking to professional agencies to refurbish the government’s image.

What is more interesting is the fact that one of the agencies that the Congress party is holding talks with is the same agency,  which has to its credit the fame of building the Narendra Modi brand when he was the CM of Gujarat.

The party sources say that the Congress through this exercise is preparing for 2018 election. With just two more years to go for Siddaramaiah led state government to complete the tenure, the recent TP/ZP polls and the by-elections to three Assembly Segment evinced that the government had not struck right chord with the voters. Hence this brand building was considered essential.

Party leaders have held meetings with representatives from Mumbai-based firms specialising in brand and political strategy.

After the ‘luxury watch’ cost the state government dear, the insiders informed that there was an immediate need to promote the State government and its flagship programmes as a brand to people.

The agency, whichever hired will be conducting surveys to assess the popularity of the party and its MLAs so as to let the government know where it stands and what its approach for 2018 election should be.
