Bengaluru: Taking to Twitter about the ongoing political turmoil in Karnataka, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah lashed out at the BJP and accused them of causing the poitical unrest.
It can be recalled that , after MLA Anand Singh resigned from his post on July 1, a slew of ministers of the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy-led government, submitted their resignations on Saturday, July 6. The rebel MLAs include those from the Congress and the JD(S) parties.
In a string of Twitter posts Siddaramaiah stated that the BJP is “a disgrace to our country” and that they have “no respect for Parliamentary democracy”. “RSS did not respect freedom movement & BJP is not respecting our constitution. They are pseudo nationalists with ulterior motive of destabilizing India’s unity, (sic)” he said in a tweet.

He also claimed that they have the numbers to prove a majority but the BJP is “continuously trying to topple” the government.
Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he tweeted, “@BJP4India is misusing central govt & its agencies to threaten our MLAs. It is not just by @BJP4Karnataka leaders but also by dictators @AmitShah & @narendramodi. They are nothing but the traitors of this vibrant country.(sic)”
“@BJP4India had been trying to destabilize since last one year & this is their sixth attempt. They will surely fail again & will have to face the wrath of the public. They are unable to digest the fact that our coalition govt is trying to ensure social justice & regional balance,” he said in another tweet.
Then on behalf of the Congress party, he requested all those who have resigned to “reconsider their decision” and “strengthen” the government.
Assuring that they would try and accommodate those MLAs who resigned, those who are interested in becoming ministers, he wrote, “We will reshuffle the cabinet keeping regional aspirations & social obligations in mind.(sic)”
Earlier, all 22 ministers of the state cabinet have resigned from their posts to make way for the rebel candidates in a bid to save the 13-month-old coalition government from toppling.
