New Delhi: The political turmoil in Karnataka seems to be having a ripple effect in the Parliament as Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury raised the issue during a Lok Sabha session on Monday, July 8.

Terming the BJP a “poacher party”, Chowdhury accused them of influencing the cirisis in the state.

Defending the BJP, however, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the party has nothing to do with what is happening in Karnataka. “We have never indulged in horse trading,” he said, adding that they are committed to maintaining the dignity of parliamentary democracy.

He then attributed the crisis in Karnataka’s political scene to Rahul Gandhi’s resignation as AICC president. “The trend of submitting resignations was started by Rahul Gandhi in the Congress and not by us,” ANI quoted the minister as saying.

It can be recalled that Congress MLA Anand Singh was the first to resign from his post on July 1. After this, on Saturday, July 6, 11 MLAs affiliated to both the Congress and JD(S) parties, submitted their resignations to Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar.
