Bangalore: The actress-turned-politician Shruthis second husband Chandrachud has submitted in writing to the family court that he has consented to annul his second marriage. With this, it is just a matter of time before the court pronounces its decision terminating the marriage.

In a new twist to the Shruthi marriage saga, journalist-turned-filmmaker Chandrachud, who had failed to appear before the court despite summons issued twice, reportedly submitted his written consent to annulling the marriage with the actress.

The controversy broke out barely a month after their wedding, with Chandrachuds first wife Manjula, a teacher, approaching the family court alleging that the filmmaker had not divorced from her before marrying Shruthi, which is illegal.

Chandrachud, while talking to reporters, admitted that he gave his consent in writing to the family court. He said that the decision had been take in consultation with Shruthi.

“Shruthi had to face difficult times because of me. It came as a shock when my first wife approached the court, despite having a deal with her before my marriage with Shruthi. To respect Shruthi and to end the saga, we have taken this step,” said Chandrachud.

Manjulas petition states that though she had separated from her husband over six years ago, they were not legally divorced. It was said that Manjula had granted permission for the marriage by signing some papers, but her lawyer dismissed it as baseless charges.
