Bengaluru: Merely within 24 hours of facing major embarrassment for allegedly found in a compromising situation with a girl, Water Resources Minister, Ramesh Jarkiholi has submitted his resignation from the Ministry on Thursday.

It may be noted that Jarkiholi, an influential MLA of Gokak taluk in Belagavi district, was caught in major controversy and embarrassment after an alleged video of him with a girl in an objectionable position went viral on Tuesday.

According to reports, the Minister allegedly had misused the girl who had come seeking a job.

In this regard, activist Dinesh Kallahalli, president of Nagarika Hakku Horata Samiti has filed a case and submitted the copy of CD to Bangalore Police Commissioner.

The video is already going viral in social media and electronic media had been beaming the same news.

Kallahalli is said to have given the copy of the CD to the media.

In a case, the activist has urged the police to conduct a detailed investigation to unearth the truth. He has said that since the girl and her family are living in fear, they have approached him to file the case on her behalf.

Meanwhile, the incident has created a storm in the political circles mainly in the BJP as it has snowball into a major controversy and embarrassment for the party. It may be noted that during the first BJP government in the State when B. S. Yediyurappa was the CM, the party and the government had faced similar embarrassment when several Ministers of the then government were found to be watching pornographic videos during the assembly session.

Interestingly, Ramesh Jarkiholi is the same man who took lead in toppling the Congress-JD(S) coalition government by bringing several MLAs of both parties together.

After resigning from the Congress, he contested election on BJP ticket and won in the by-election against his own brother, Lakhan Jarkiholi from Gokak.

Now with the influential minister of the party found in an objectionable position, the BJP has found itself in an awkward position.

Meanwhile, Ramesh has submitted his resignation to Chief Minister, B. S. Yediyurappa where has pleaded innocent and said that a plan has been hatched against him to tarnish him image.

He also appealed the CM to conduct a detailed inquiry in the episode, and requested the CM to accept his resignation.

Amid this, it is reported that supporters of Jarkiholi forcibly shutting the shops in the Gokak.

In his response, Former Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah has severely condemn the act and said that such ‘shameless’ people are in the government.

“I am feeling ashamed even to mention the incident”, he said.

He has also alleged that Balachandra, younger brother of Ramesh has threatened to release the CD of Yediyurappa if he accepts the resignation of Ramesh.

“This is the situation the BJP government has reached in Karnataka which is utterly disgraceful and shameful”, he said.
