Bangalore : Senior IPS officer Seemanth Kumar Singh has been appointed the new Commander of the Anti Naxal Force(ANF) by the state Government. Seemanth is former SP of Dakshina Kannada district and former Mangalore Police Commissioner.
He was transferred and appointed DIG(Civil Rights Enforcement)following the homestay attack case in Mangalore.
Singhs appointment comes at a time when there has been an alarming rise in Naxal activities in northern states. Moreover, the ANF Commanders post had remained vacant following the transfer of the erstwhile commander Sunil Kumar during the Assembly elections.
