Bengaluru: City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has extended the restrictions imposed under Section 144 till 6 am of August 18 in areas under riot-hit DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations limits.
The moves comes in after Sayyad Nadeem, 24, resident of KG Halli and accused in the recent riots succumbed to his injuries at the Bowring Hospital on Saturday. The man had reportedly tested positive for coronavirus. He was arrested on August 12.
The police has clarified that Nadeen did not have any injuries and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning due to health complications.
It may be recalled that violent episodes broke out after mob vandalised the house of MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy, after his relative Naveen posted a derogatory post against Prophet Mohommed.
Four persons including Nadeem died in the violence.
As of Sunday, 340 persons have been arrested in the incident. Among the arrested are leaders of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the husband of a Congress corporator.
