Bengaluru: Minister for Infrastructure and Haj R Roshan Baig on Friday threatened to file a defamation case against BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje for linking him with the murder of RSS activist Rudresh.

Coming down heavily on Shobha Karandlaje, Minister Roshan Baig said that he would consult with his legal counsel to file a defamation case against Shobha Karandlaje. “Shoba’s allegations are a bundle of lies. I advise her to focus on developmental works. She may be trying to be in the limelight by making such allegations against me. I also have a family and children. I never indulge in criminal activities. I am of the opinion that Shobha should not stoop to such a low level,’’ Baig said.

It may be recalled that Shobha Karandlaje, speaking with TV channels, had accused Minister Roshan Baig of engaging killers to murder Rudresh as he was worried about the popularity of the deceased in Shivajinagar assembly constituency. Shobha had demanded the state government handover the probe to National Investigation Agency (NIA) or Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to know the conspiracy behind the murder of Rudresh. She had also demanded Baig to resign from the Cabinet.

She claimed that her statement was based on the information from police sources. “The people in police custody have revealed that Baig played a key role in engaging supari killers,’’ she said.
