Bengaluru: Regarding the IAS Officer, Hassan Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohini Sindhuri’s petition against her transfer before the end of the term, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has finished the hearing and reserved its judgement.
As per the direction of the High Court, the Tribunal Bench, including the Judges Dr. K B Suresh and K Pradhan, started the re-hearing of the petition filed by the IAS officer. It directed the state government to continue Rohini Sindhuri as the DC of the district till the final judgement.
Senior Advocate Subramanya Jois, who represented Rohini Sindhuri claimed that the state government had transferred her as she was about to take stringent action against illegal mining in Hassan district. “Local politicians played a big role in this action. This transfer was not done for any public or administrative interest. No reason has been given for the transfer. The order of the government was against the rules and it should be cancelled,” he said.
For the government, Additional Advocate General A S Ponnanna argued that this decision was taken by the state government in the interest of the public and administration. There is no rule that an IAS officer must be continued in a single place for two years, he contested.
Rohini Sindhuri had questioned the government’s decision of transferring her from the post of DC during the first week of March, 2018.
