Bengaluru: Oddities in the animal kingdom are quite fascinating to witness, and can add something special to your day when you witness one for yourself. A house in the Gokula Extension in Mathikere limits of Bengaluru was the site of the discovery of a rather rare animal- an albino cobra.

A distress call at around 7 am on Monday, July 2, brought snake rescuers Rajesh Kumar and Vivek Urs to the house. To their surprise, they found an albino cobra hatchling that was just a few days old, a rare sight for them even though they had been resuing snakes the entire monsoon season.

The snake rescuers were expecting a regular cobra when they got the call. They were pleasantly surprised to see an albino monocled cobra, more commonly known as a white cobra.

According to them, this is the first time that one has been spotted in the city, whereas across the country, there have been around eight sightings in total.

The baby albino cobra was captured in a box and was subsequently released into the wild.
