Bengaluru: The kingpin of PU question paper leak case, Shivakumara Swamy was arrested yesterday in Tamilnadu.
So far 14 people have been arrested by the CID in connection to the case.

CID DGP Kishore Chandra speaking to media said that the accused used to communicate using code words on question paper leak.

“Accused used code words to communicate without taking names. They were given shelter by many people, otherwise they couldn’t have absconded. They changed at least 15 locations, sometimes two to three locations in a day, before being caught. Shivakumara Swamy and his son Dinesh were both involved in the crime together. Dinesh is still absconding,” he said.

“As of now we are probing only the chemistry question paper leak. We will see later if they are involved in any other paper leak. There are six FIR’s registered against Swamy since 2008 in Bengaluru and Tumakuru police stations. He would never meet anyone till the last stage of deal. With his arrest, we hope that the other question paper leaks will cease. Certainly, he had plans of leaking CET and entrance examination question papers,” he added.

Chandra informed that one bag, 4 pairs of clothes, 4 sim cards, 2 mobile phones and Rs 50,000 cash was seized from Shivakumara Swamy.

Girlfriend led to his arrest!

The CID has revealed that a woman who was his girlfriend had led to PU paper leak kingpin Shivakumara Swamy’s arrest. It is learnt that Swamy who had ten to twelve girlfriends, used to use his girlfriend’s mobile to communicate with people and get money.

According to sources, Shivakumara Swamy was staying with his girlfriend at an under construction room when he was arrested. He was found nude when the police caught him.

The CID officials arrested him after a tip-off from one of his girlfriends. His location was traced after the CID officials tracked his girlfriend.

A special Karnataka Control of Organized Crime Act (KCOCA) Court has remanded Swamy to 10-day CID custody.

It may be recalled that the Chemistry examination was first cancelled on March 21 by the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) after the question paper got leaked. Though the re-examination was scheduled for March 31, the question papers were leaked again, forcing the DPUE officials to cancel it (re-exam) and postponed it to April 12.
