Bengaluru: The state police are planning to impose prohibitory orders across the state on May 23, the day of the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results.

According to the sources in the state home department, a notification in this regard is expected to be issued in a day or two. The decision to issue prohibitory orders has been taken to maintain the law and order situation at the time of the announcement of the results.

A senior officer informed that strict police vigil will be continued in the Mandya district where the JDS and independent candidates have locked horns. “A final decision in this regard will be taken after receiving a report from the local police authorities,” he explained.

“Victory celebrations will be exempted from the prohibitory orders but will be allowed under certain conditions,” he added.
