Bengaluru: A 40 year old film producer was arrested here on Tuesday on the charges of duping a medical seat aspirant of Rs 35 lakh.

The accused producer promised the medical seat aspirant a seat in a reputed college. The arrested is identified as Santhosh Kumar Rai alias Dr Santhosh Rai(40), a native of Gurgaon.

It is learnt that Santhosh, who had produced a yet to be released Hindi movie on Nathuram Godse, used to lure gullible people by dropping names of the bigwigs in Bollywood industry.

Claiming to be a doctor by profession, he would promise students medical seats in reputed colleges and extract money amounting to around Rs. 1 crore. He would use this money to fund his upcoming film projects, the police said.
