Bengaluru: The pro-Kannada outfits will observe February 4 as Black Day seeking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention to resolve Mahadayi river dispute, said Kannada Okkuta President Vatal Nagaraj.

The Karnataka High Court, on February 2, has declared the call given by some organisations for a bandh on February 4 in relation to Mahadayi water dispute issue as unconstitutional. The court directed the state government, its officials and agencies to take steps to ensure that day-to-day life of people, commerce and industrial activities are not impacted due to such an “unconstitutional” call.

“We respect the HC order but will take out a procession from Freedom Park to the Palace Grounds, where PM Modi is going to address the valedictory of Parivartan rally”, said Vatal and added the day will be observed as a Black Day. The pro-Kannada outfits aim to mount pressure on PM Modi during his stay in the city seeking his intervention to resolve the dispute by observing Black Day.
