Bengaluru: The police have added two more Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the first information report (FIR) filed against the landlord for allegedly assaulting a student from Arunachal Pradesh.

The sections invoked are 295 – on deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs – and 355 – on assault or criminal force with intent to dishonor person, otherwise than on grave provocation.

The police said Hemanth Kumar, who had allegedly thrashed Higio Gungtey, a student of Christ University on March 6 at his Hulimavu residence over a water dispute, had earlier booked for kidnapping and criminal intimidation.

“The students made his second statement on Monday and based on the statement, we added the two IPC sections,” said a police officer.

Higio lived in a two-bedroom house owned by Kumar, a lawyer, at Hulimavu.
