Police nab techie from Hyderabad for harassing female software engineer

Bengaluru: The HAL police have arrested a 26- year old software engineer from the Hyderabad for allegedly harassing a female software engineer by sending her nude picture to her fiance.

The police have identified the accused as Raju Boranchi, a resident of Begumpet in Hyderabad and working as a software engineer with a private firm in Hyderabad. The police said that victim woman filed a complaint with police about the harassment by an unknown person using a fake email ID compelling her to marry him over emails since one year and recently he sent her nude picture to her fiance Sunil Nair. It was said the accused had also sent her nude picture to Nair’s sister in a bid to avoid her marriage.

Police said that the victim woman was his classmate while they were doing M.Tech in a private college in Hyderabad and later they did internship in a firm together. The police said the accused fell in love with her but did not express it to her.

According to the police, the accused called her over a year ago over the phone and introduced himself as an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer and he wanted to verify her job. He took her mails and social media information from her and he found her email password and used to open it every day to track her. It was said the accused used seven mobile phones to harass her. He created an email ID in fake name to mail her to force her to marry him.

“Six months ago the victim filed a complaint against unknown person for sending messages and emails to her forcing her to marry him. But that time police were not serious about the case and started to hunt for him after he mailed her nude pictures. The accused had stolen those photos from her laptop, when they were doing internship. She shifted to Bengaluru after she got job here and staying at a PG accommodation at Marathahalli,” a police officer said.

The HAL police managed to track the accused person with the help Cyber Police and arrested him at his residence in Hyderabad. The victim mentioned his name with police when they asked for any suspects. He confessed to the crime during the interrogation. The police produced before the court.
