Bangalore : Union Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily has said that the Central government has taken necessary measures to implement the Rs 1400 crore project of laying gas pipelines from Chitraduga to Mangalore.
Moily who interacted with CM Siddaramaiah on various gas projects in the state later spoke to the media and said it has been decided to implement gas pipeline projects at the earliest.
He said the Rs 700 crore project of laying gas pipelines from Chitradurga to Bellary has already been approved and that similarly the project report is being readied for a Rs 1400 crore project of laying 350 km long pipeline from Shimoga to Mangalore via Udupi.
He said it has been decided to open an Institute of Petroleum Technology in the state in the name of late prime minister Rajeev Gandhi. Moily said the Rs 350 crore project needed 200 acre of land and it has been decided to set up the same in close vicinity of the Devanahalli international Airport.
