Bengaluru: The younger generation need to imbibe personal integrity and dedication as integral parts of their lives after which they would be able to eradicate the social evil of corruption, opined Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Vishwananth Shetty.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the seven-day NSS (National Service Scheme) camp on national integration organized jointly by the Department of Youth empowerment and sports, Government of Karnataka, NSS wing of Bangalore University and Nitte Shankara Adyantaya Memorial First Grade College, Yelahanka.
The national integration camp will be held till March 25 and more than 150 volunteers from across the country will be participating in the event. Justice Vishwanath Shetty further added that NSS camps of such nature will help the students to understand the unity in diversity of this huge nation.
Prof. N.R. Shetty, Chancellor, Central University of Karnataka, in his presidential address, stressed upon the need of arranging such camps often to bridge the communication gap among youngsters belonging to different states, languages.
Prof. Jagadish Prakash, in-charge Vice-chancellor of Bangalore University, Gananatha Shetty Yekkar, NSS state coordinator, Rohit Punja, Administrator of Nitte Education Trust, Dr. H.C. Nagaraj, Principal of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology and Dr. Meera Krishnappa, Principal Nitte First Grade College were present on the occasion.
Later NSS volunteers presented a cultural show encompassing the folk traditions of various states and enthralled the audience with their performance.
