Bengaluru: BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa and K S Eshwarappa have been at loggerheads with each other. Now, if that was not enough, on Thursday an ugly incident unfurled as the supporters of the two leaders resorted to wrestling out in the open.
The controversial ‘BJP Sanghatana Samavesha, an event held under the theme ‘Save the Organisation’ began at the Palace Grounds on Thursday despite warning from BJP National Chief Amit Shah.
BJP leader Bhanuprakash, during his keynote address said that biased decisions were made while appointing office-bearers and that persons who had never been associated with the BJP have been made district presidents.
“It is unfortunate that the party is not ready to make changes. This is neither a meeting of the ‘unhappy’ lot nor is it a convention of the opponents. It is sad that people who had once walked out of the party and floated their own party are today heading the BJP,” said Bhanuprakash making an obvious remark at BSY.
All of a sudden, a few from the audience who did not like the fact that such remarks were being made against BSY stood up and hurled abuses at Bhanuprakash. Fast to react were supporters of Eshwarappa who attacked BSY’s supporters. The chaotic situation ended only after the Eshwarappa faction shunned the BSY supporters out of the venue.
The Convention is being held by ‘Rayanna Brigade’, which has been vocal against decisions and policies of BS Yeddyurappa, who heads the state BJP. However, Amit Shah has given a clear warning to the state leaders to get ready for disciplinary action if they take part in the event.
With the event taking off despite warnings, one may have to wait and watch what actions the national BJP leaders would initiate against those taking part in the convention.
