Dr. Rajkumar’s life is now a lesson in Karnataka

Bengaluru: While Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar continues to stay alive in the hearts of millions of his fans, the state government has decided to pay an ode to the evergreen actor on the occasion of his 88th birth anniversary on April 24 by including a chapter on him in Class 5 Kannada text books, besides a mention of the actor in the social science textbook of Class 6.

The 4-page chapter which is a compilation of excerpts from Rajkumar’s biography, penned by the journalist Doddahulluru Rukkoji will throw light on the actors early life and his resplendent film career.

The announcement was made by Home Minister G Parameshwara after Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya, actors and Rajkumar’s family members- including his sons, actors Shivarajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar- paid homage at his samathi in Kanteevara studios.

Notably the actor who was honored by Google with a special doodle has already found a mention in the curriculum of Class 8 Kannada textbook being taught in Mahrashtra.

Meanwhile, efforts are also being made to digitize Rajkumar’s movies and the Centre has reportedly expressed willingness to provide financial support for the same.
