Bengaluru: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that Pakistan has been getting isolated from world for abetting terrorism.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh holds high-level security meet-1Addressing a meeting at National College Grounds, Basavanagudi in Bengaluru organized to welcome former IAS officer K Shivaram into Bharatiya Janata Patry (BJP), Minister Rajnath Singh said that if Pakistan government wants to get rid of terrorism and if Pakistan government on its own cannot root out terrorism on its own, it can seek India’s help. “India is ready to root out terrorism from Pakistan. Our leaders made constant efforts to improve relations with Pakistan,’’ Minister Rajnath Singh said.

Minister Singh said Narendra Modi government invited in May 2014 all the heads of the states for swearing in ceremony to send a message that India wants to have better relations with its neighbours but Pakistan did not understand this and it tried to take an advantage illegally. “We do not hate people of Pakistan but hate terrorism in Pakistan,’’ he said.

Welcoming former IAS officer K Shivaram into BJP, he said Narendra Modi had dedicated this government to the poor in the country. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had implemented many welfare schemes for the benefit of poor and downtrodden in the country. He wanted the youth not to end up as job seekers but job givers. The Union Government, through Pradham Mantri Mudra Loan scheme, has disbursed Rs 1,34,000 crore worth of loans to 3.15 crore youth in the country. Prime Minister’s intention is to ensure self respect and self reliance for Dalit youth in the country,’’ he said.

B S Yeddyurappa, president, BJP Karnataka, said that Dalits in the state were not happy with Congress. “Dalit leader and former minister Srinivas Prasad is expected to resign as Congress MLA on October 17. Srinivas Prasad was Union Minister in Atal Behari Vajpayee government. BJP wants to organize other backward castes (OBC) convention at Bengaluru Palace Grounds on October 27. BJP top leaders will attend the convention,’’ Yeddyurappa said.

Speaking on the occasion, K Shivaram said Congress has not done anything for the welfare of Dalits in the country except using them as a vote bank. “Dalits and poor were with Congress for more than 60 years but the latter failed to do anything for the welfare of the former. Now the people of Karnataka want to send Siddaramaiah home and make B S Yeddyurappa chief minister again,’’ Shivaram said.

Shivaram, a 1986 batch IAS officer who also happened to act in 10 Kannada films, joined Congress in 2013 after his retirement. Within six months, Shivaram had quit Congress and joined Janata Dal (Secular). He unsuccessfully contested as JD(S) candidate in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Bijapur.

BJP leader K Eshwarappa, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Jagadish Shettar, Dharwad MP Prahlad Joshi were conspicuous by their absence.
