Bengaluru: The Public Libraries Department’s decision to launch an e-library during the Covid-19 crisis is now bearing rich fruits. According to the authorities, so far 5,76,893 readers have logged into the e-library facility.
Here, readers can choose from 38,024 books and 5,487 videos. Over 5,990 journals are also available for reading. All these are made available to the readers free of cost.
It can be recalled that till recently, all the public libraries were shut down due to the Covid-19 scare and lockdown rules.
According to the authorities, even though books have been made available for reading, the users can’t download anything. Many science-related videos which are helpful to the students are also available.
Authorities add that, except for popular Kannada books that didn’t receive permission from the writers for use by the e-library, all other books are available online.
