Bengaluru: With the BJP call for a statewide stir against the State government’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the leaders of Opposition in the State Legislature, Jagadish Shettar and K S Eshwarappa submitted a memorandum to the Governor Vajubhai Vala and urged gim to direct the government to immediately abolish the controversial ACB.

The BJP leaders explained the adverse consequences of ACB and how it might be used as a tool to book false cases against political opponents.

The leaders also stated that the formation of ACB was done to protect the public servants and the ministers against whom cases were pending. The cases of corruption would be handed from Lokayukta to ACB.

The government has justified the constitution of the ACB citing a Supreme Court order. It had actually directed the government to take measures to strengthen the Lokayukta. The leaders complained that the government had violated the Supreme Court order by establishing the ACB.

“We request you to direct the government to take immediate action to abolish it,” they said.
