Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident, a drunk man set two of his kids on fire at Anjanapura under the Thalagattapura police limits.

In the gruesome act, one of the children succumbed to the injuries while another is battling for life.

According to the police, accused father Shrinivas also sustained 40% burn injuries.

“Shrinivas, an electrician by profession set his two children i.e. Sayi Charan (1 year) and Sayi Chetan (4 years) on fire while they were sleeping, on Sunday night. Sayi Charan has succumbed to the burn injuries while Sayi Chetan is battling for life,” police informed.

“Shrinivas married Hemalatha, a widow in 2013. The couple has two children. But recently both of them separated over trivial issues. On Sunday he brought the two children to his room saying he wants to bring them new clothes. In the night, after consuming alcohol, he poured petrol on them and set them on fire. Locals who saw the children screaming rescued them and admitted them to Victoria Hospital,” informed the police.
