Bengaluru: People in the city, mainly those staying near Shivananda circle supported by certain voluntary organizations came out in large numbers to oppose the proposed steel bridge near Shivananda circle on Sunday, July 23.

The State Cabinet on June 8 had approved the construction of a steel flyover at Race Course Road to Sivananda Circle at a cost of Rs 19.85 crore. The total steel bridge construction cost is likely to exceed Rs 40 crore due to land acquisition and lease costs. This steel flyover will be built at Sivananda Circle between Hare Krishna Road and Kumar Kripa Road.

It may be recalled, the government had earlier dropped Rs 1800 crore steel flyover project from Chalukya circle to Hebbal bowing to protests.

The flyover constructions has been assigned to M Venkata Rao Infra Project company and the works are to be completed within a year.
