Bengaluru: Minister for Home Dr G Parameshwar said on Sunday that transfer of police officers was a routine one and there was no special interest in transferring Dr. M A Saleem, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Speaking with media persons here after conveying New Year wishes to the people of Karnataka, Dr G Parameshwar said the ACB chief was not transferred just to protect or save somebody and N S Megharikh was made ACB chief because he was qualified for that post. The home minister had advised the police to focus on discharging their duties.
On Nanjangud by-election
Dr G Parameshwar, who also holds the post of KPCC president, said Congress had constituted a team of observers to submit a report on the prospects of Congress in the forthcoming by-election to Nanjangud assembly seat. “We have no problem with Srinivas Prasad and Jayaprakash Hegde joining BJP. We are aware of Nanjangud by-election. We have our own strategy to retain this seat. We will select a suitable candidate after receiving the report from the observers,’’ Parameshwar said.
Reacting to the statements of senior Congress leaders Janardhana Poojary and H Vishwanath, the KPCC president said that both leaders had worked for Congress. “We have already advised them not to indulge in anti-party activities. It is painful to see their statements. We have already informed Congress high command about their statements. We will take action against them as per Congress high command’s directive,’’ he said.
On Narendra Modi’s speech
The KPCC president said that he was disappointed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on Saturday. He said that preventing people withdrawing their own money from banks would be considered as undemocratic. “The people in the country have been suffering due to the demonetization of high-value currency notes. The Prime Minister, in his speech, had not mentioned about the problems people facing due to demonetization. Now it has become evident that some people had a prior intimation about the demonetization of high-value currency notes. The government did not mention the objective of the demonetization and why it had taken such decision. The government has to tell the people on the quantum of black money recovered. The government had maintained secrecy while announcing the demonetization. In a democracy, the people have the right to know about everything but the government is violating the rights of the people,’’ he said.
He said the people expected Prime Minister to simplify some of the decisions taken while announcing demonetization but the Prime Minister’s speech was like a Budget speech with some announcements. “There is no benefit for the people from the Prime Minister’s speech. There would have no problem if these announcements were made during the Budget speech,’’ he said.
