Bangalore :Kannada film director and screenplay writer D Rajendra Babu died of heart attack at MS Ramaiah hospital here on Sunday. He was 62. Rajendra Babu has directed over 50 films in various genres and besides Kannada, he has also directed films in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. He also won awards for his work.
He worked as an associate to many top directors like Rajendra Singh Babu, K. S. R. Das and V. Somashekhar.
Nanu Nanna Hendathi, Olavina Udugore, Ramachaari, Ramarajyadalli Rakshasaru, Halunda Thavaru, Appaji, Diggajaru, Amma, Encounter Dayanayak and Bindaas are some of the films he directed since 1984. He had joined the Kannada film industry as an actor but later became a director.
Rajendra Babu’s wife Sumithra is a multi-lingual actress. They have two daughters, both of whom also act.
