Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) officers conducted a search at the house of Mohammad Rafeeq alias Javeed alias Alam Jeb Afridi, the prime suspect in the Church Street blast case, on Saturday.
The officers brought him to Bengaluru from Delhi and took him to his house at Vinayaka Layout in Parappana Agrahara and completed the mahajar in his presence. The team visited the places shown by Rafeeq and collected information.
He was staying at the house owned by K T Ashraf for the last three years.
He had made an advance payment of Rs 20,000 and was paying a rent of Rs 3,200 per month. Rafeeq had assembled the raw materials and prepared the Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which he kept near the Coconut Grove Bar and Restaurant on Church Street. The IED exploded at around 8.30 pm on December 28. Rafeeq was sharing the house with an accomplice who got married about six months ago, after which he moved to a different location.
The police have decided to detain him for questioning.
