Bengaluru: In a shocking incident the official website of University of Mysore was hacked on Sunday morning, August 28. The Tunisia based Jihadi group, calling themselves Al Fallaga team, hacked the website and placed pro-Jihadi and anti Buddhist poster on the home page.
The website (http://www.uni-mysore.ac.in) was hacked and a message stating “Islam is the only religion. Stop killing Burma Muslims. Stop Buddhist terrorism.” was posted. The university officials concerned came to know about the issue at 7.45 am and removed the same by 8.05 am. Soon after the incident, the varsity staff took decode access and removed the URL link.
According to sources, the server is located at Manasa Gangotri campus and managed by a company based in Hyderabad. But, primary report suggest that the URL of Tunisian Jihadi group post was attached to varsity website is traced to Chennai city.
Speaking to newskarnataka.com, Hemantha Kumar, professor of Computer science department, said that the incident came to light on Sunday morning and necessary steps have been taken up. “There is no breach of documents,” he said.
The varsity staff have approached cyber crime police and investigation is on. Meanwhile, Home Minister, G Parmeshwar has reacted to this incident at Mysore and said that the incident has been taken seriously and appropriate action will be taken.
