Bengaluru: Muthappa Rai, former underworld don and Jaya Karnataka Party chief, has been admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru after his health deteriorated. He has been suffering from a serious illness for some time now.
The 68-year-old has been suffering from cancer for a few years now and as his health condition worsened recently, he was admitted to a top hospital in the city. He is said to be in critical condition.
Rai was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and earlier this year, he moved to his farmhouse in Bidadi to spend the rest of his days in peace.
It can be recalled that in January this year, Rai had announced that the doctors had told him that he had a short time to live.
“I have already prepared a will and informed my children. I have decided to share all my land with the people who have stood by me till date. Annually, I pay Rs 25-30 crores in taxes,” he had said.
He had also announced that he had resigned as chief of the Jaya Karnataka Party as well as from his post as Karnataka Athletic Association president.
