Bengaluru: Indrajit Lankesh, brother of slain journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh on September 15, said that he won’t demand CBI probe since his mother had asked the state government to go ahead with SIT probe.

It may be recalled that soon after the state government launched SIT probe into the killing of journalist Gauri Lankesh, Indrajit Lankesh had demanded CBI probe.

“My mother has asked me to wait and co-operate with SIT which is currently investigating the case. We need justice and I won’t ask for CBI probe going against my mother’s wish,” he said.

The SIT sleuths had taken statements from Lankesh family members on Wednesday. “I have provided all details about business deals between us,” he said. He also expressed discontentment over reports of some electronic media claiming that he collapsed during SIT questioning.

“I too am a journalist and I want to know the culprit behind my sister’s killing. We had ideological differences, but it had changed in these 14 years,” he added.

Gauri Lankesh, known for her progressive and fearless writing, was shot dead at close range by unknown assailants at her home in Bengaluru on September 5. The 55-year-old journalist had returned home in her car and was opening the gate when motorcycle-borne assailants fired at her indiscriminately, with two bullets hitting her in the chest and one on her forehead.
