Bengaluru: Retired Justice K N Keshava Narayana Commission has expressed some serious doubts about the mysterious death of DySP Ganapati and referred the government to hand-over the matter to some independent Investigation Agency. In a shocking revelation, the commission said that most of the evidence have been intentionally destroyed.
The commission has handed-over a 320-page investigation report to Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy. The commission was formed on July 16, 2016, to investigate the unnatural death of Ganapati. The dead body of DySP Ganapati was found in the Vinayaka Lodge of Madikeri on July 7, 2016.
The commission has collected the statements of 49 evidences including staff of Vinayaka lodge, reporter of the private TV channel and cameraman to whom Ganapathy gave an interview before death, doctor, police, under dereliction of duty Kodagu SP Rajendra Prasad, Madikeri Inspector Medappa and others. The commission said the statements don’t prove it as a suicide, but there was something else behind his death.
Evidences deleted
Forensic report on CC Camera hard disk, DVR, mobile, pistol, uniform, belt and other important documents and his belongings have been collected. But, almost all supporting pieces of evidence have been deleted from the DVR. The video recorded on the day of Ganapati’s death has been deleted and some 14-year-old video was filled. It has been confirmed by the Hyderabad Forensic Lab. It is found that contacts including Union, State ministers, MLAs, call details, photos, call records of 352 numbers, 31 calls, 52 SMSs have been deleted. According to the sources, the commission has felt that the 49 statements and destruction of evidence has strengthened the doubts regarding the death.
Not under pressure
There was a rumor that Ganapati might have committed suicide because of work pressure and family problems. But, the commission said that Ganapati was mentally fit and had no mental or family issues.
DySP Ganapati’s father Kushalappa, brother Machaiah and sister Sabitha didn’t give their statements even though the commission served notices thrice. Out of 49 statements, the commission didn’t receive any complaint against DGP A M Prasad, IGP Pranav Mohanti, and Minister K J George. So, there was no need to investigate them. However, the commission didn’t give clean-chit to anyone, the report said. It recommended cooperating with the investigation initiated by the Chennai CBI.
