Bangalore : State Minister for Information and Infrastructure Development Santosh Lad has said that several foreign firms, especially from Malaysia have shown keen interest in taking up monorail projects in the coastal city of Mangalore apart from Bangalore and Hubli and Dharwad.
In case of the project becoming a reality, then it would provide a great relief to the city of Mangalore which is reeling under traffic problems.
The Minister said the first round of talks have been held in this regard and that the estimated cost was Rs 100 crore to Rs 120 crore. He said as far as Bangalore is concerned, the implementation of a monorail project would supplement the ongoing Metro Rail Project Phase one which is expected be completed by next year.
He said more details are expected in the next couple of weeks. He at the same time said the proposal is to develop 20 to 25 km of monorail in Mangalore and Hubli Dharwad and 30 to 35 kms in Bangalore.
