BJP candidate Kota Shrinivas Poojary and Congress candidate Pratapchandra Shetty have won twin seats in the MLC election from Dakshina Kannada constituency.
The BJP candidate secured 2,977 first priority votes, while Congress candidate Pratapchandra Shetty got 2,237 first priority votes. Independent candidate J P Hegde secured 872 first priority votes and another independent candidate Harikrishna Bantwal received only 127 first priority votes.

MLC polls Update: Congress wins Bengaluru Urban seat
Bengaluru: The counting of the recently held MLC polls is underway across the state and the result will be out today.
The polls were held for 25 Local constituencies on December 28.
Congress candidate M Narayanaswamy was leading in Bengaluru Urban constituency. Meanwhile, in Kodagu and Chikkmagaluru, BJP candidates took an early lead. In Shivamogga, JDS candidate is ahead.
Supporters of N Narayanaswamy and Dayananda Reddy were involved in a verbal fight during the counting in Bengaluru.
Good numbers are crucial for the ruling Congress, which will help in getting Bills passed in the Upper House, as it has only 28 members against 30 of the BJP and 12 of the JD(S), besides four Independents. Besides BJP and JD(S), party rebels are also posing a threat in two constituencies for the Congress.
