Manual scavenger dies in Bengaluru – Three including school headmaster arrested

Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident, a manual scavenger who entered the septic pit in a school campus in Hongasandra area of the city to clean it died of suffocation.

According to the Begur police who are investigating the incident, the deceased manual scavenger has been identified as Manu, a local resident.

According to the sources, Manu was asked to clean the 2×2 feet wide and 5 feet deep pit. He was cleaning the pit from the outside, but accidentally fell into the pit and died, said sources at the scene of the incident. The incident occurred on March 2nd.

The police say that they have arrested the School headmaster and representatives of the management.
