Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, an engineer filed a divorce petition after his wife delivered a girl baby.

Ajay, aged 30, a Hraware Engineer from the Garden City, married Meena (29), a software developer, in 2009 after being in love for six years. Meena got pregnant in 2013. Ajay was expecting a boy so that his family could finally perform a kanakabhishekam to honour his great-grandmother.
Kanakabhishekam is a Hindu custom where, in case there are four generations of first-born sons in a family, the great-grandson from the fourth generation performs a kanakabhishekam (shower of gold) for the great-grandfather and great-grandmother of the first-generation.
Meena delivered a premature baby girl. A dejected Ajay did not stay for more than two days at the hospital. He refused to meet when Meena when to her parents’ house.
According to sources, when Meena met Ajay at a hospital, two months after delivery, Ajay still refused to meet the child. And a month after that, he filed for divorce. Meena who went to his house, was thrown out.
A distraught Meena, filed for child support. Ajay objected and sought visitation rights. Ajay was granted permission to meet the child once in two weeks. He met his daughter for five times and ten stopped meeting her.
Mena has now got back to work as she is sole earner of her family.
