After spending some time on the benches of the station, he consumed tea and biscuits on the platform. He then boarded a city-bound passenger train and alighted at Mahadevapura. From there, he went to his sister house, had a bath, breakfast and slept for some time,” investigating officers said.

Meawhile, the owner of his sister’s house learnt about the hostel shooting from TV channels came to know that Mahesh had come to his sisters house. “The house owner knew that Mahesh was working as an attendant in Pragati PU College. A little later, he discovered that Mahesh was hiding in his tenant’s house and immediately called the police control room,” police sources said. Kadugodi police rushed to the spot in a Hoysala and detained Mahesh. “Mahesh tried to mislead us saying he was not aware of the incident. We told him that CCTV had revealed his identity,” they added.

According to friends – Mahesh soft spoken and gentle:

A police team which visited Kendalubayalu, near Agume, Thirthahalli taluk, Shivamogga district, found that Mahesh enjoyed the image of a soft-spoken and amiable person. The team visited schools and colleges where Mahesh studied and spoke to people who knew him. However, the police had formed a different picture after interrogating him.

Mahesh has reportedly told investigation officers that he was frustrated as the girls often insulted him by calling him ‘uncle’. However, police are not ready to buy his arguments.

Meanwhile the City police commissioner MN Reddi told media they are speeding up the investigation as Mahesh’s police custody ends on April 10. “Mahesh is making contradictory statements on purchase of the revolver used in crime. It is important to trace the root of the revolver and we have just five days in our hand as Mahesh’s police custody ends on April 10. So we decided to take him to his native for more interrogation,” he said.
