Bengaluru: The police investigating the shootout in Pragathi Residential School case are yet to find out from where the accused Mahesh obtained the country made pistol with which he shot Gouthami and injured Shirisha.

Police said that Mahesh was giving contradictory statements on how he got the pistol. “Once he says that he got the pistol from a stranger at K R Puram Railway Station two years ago. When asked again, he said that he got it in Shivamogga. He could be trying to mislead the investigation and we are yet to come to a conclusion on from where he got the pistol. A team has been sent to his hometown Agumbe to verify his antecedents,” P Harisekaran, Additional Commissioner of Police (East) told media.
“He claimed that though he did not want to buy one, a man from Kalburgi, who was in immediate need of money, forced him to buy the pistol about two years ago. Though not interested, he claims, he bought it for Rs. 2,500 as the stranger was forcing him. He is also giving contradictory versions on where the pistol was all these days.
