Bengaluru: Decks have been cleared for another round of election face-off between Madhu Bangarappa, son of former CM S Bangarappa and B Y Raghavendra, son of another former CM BS Yeddyurappa in the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency. The JDS announced Madhu’s candidature from the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency on Monday night.

It can be recalled that in November 3, 2018, Lok Sabha by-election, BJP candidate BY Raghavendra had defeated Madhu by over 52,000 votes. Madhu was JDS-Congress alliance candidate.

On Monday night, Madhu met JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda at his residence in Padmanabhanagar and discussed about the upcoming election. After the meeting, Gowda announced that Madhu will be the JDS-Congress candidate from the Shivamogga constituency. It may also be recalled that when Madhu lost the recent by-elections, HDD had announced that the JDS will field him again during the LS polls and the former PM has only acted upon his words.

Gowda expressed confidence that Madhu will breach the BJP fort. “He lost by a small margin in the 2018 by election. This time he will win,” said Gowda.
