Bengaluru: The ruling coalition partners in the state JDS and Congress have decided to meet on March 1 to finalise the seat sharing arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, on March 1.
The meeting will be attended by JDS Supremo HD Deve Gowda, CM HD Kumaraswamy, AICC Karnataka in-charge KC Venugopal, former CM Siddaramaiah and others.
According to the sources, the JDS has agreed to contest in nine seats leaving other seats to the Congress, but what has upset the Congress is that the JDS is demanding Mysuru, Chikkaballapura, and Tumakuru, three constituencies of prime interest for the Congress.
“Instead of Bengaluru rural, the JDS is demanding Bengaluru North and the party’s demand for Mysuru and Tumakuru has reportedly upset the Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and Dr G Parameshwara,” informed sources.
Meanwhile, JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda reportedly requested major irrigation minister DK Shivakumar to convince Sumalata MH Ambareesh from contesting from Mandya constituency. “Gowda wants DKShi to convince to stay out of Mandya as Gowda believes that Sumalata may foil party’s chances in Mandya,” said sources.
